Germany caught in the terrorism debate

In a recent commentary published by RUSI, the Royal United Services Institute, entitled "Germany caught in the terrorism debate", the success of German authorities at preventing recent terrorist attacks and the need for stronger counter-terrorism surveillance measures are explored.

Recent arrests of terror suspects in Germany demonstrate the success of authorities in preventing incidents there. These arrests also show the increasing threats to the country and difficulties that Germany faces in "balancing security with civil liberties."
