Norwegian pleads not guilty to terror financing

The Washington Times reports on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in an article entitled "Norwegian pleads not guilty to terror financing," that a Somali-born Norwegian citizen pled not guilty to charges of sending more than $30,000 to high ranking leaders of al-Qaeda-linked Somali militant group.

Norwegian prosecutors formally indicted the man for sending the money to al-Shabab militants "in order to support terrorist activities." Due to Norway's privacy laws, the man is not being named.

The United States and Norway, among other nations, have designated the Islamist al-Shabab a terrorist organization, with links to al-Qaeda.
