Agent: Tarek Mehanna suspected friend was informant

In the ongoing case against Tarek Mehanna, the Boston Herald reported on November 9, 2011, that an FBI agent testified that the alleged al-Qaida supported "suspected one of his friends was a government informant."

According to the article, Agent Christian Fierabend testified that Mehanna "told a friend during an on-line chat that another of their associates in an internet forum knew information about him, and advised his friend to be careful." Fierabend then read a portion of an on-line chat transcript where government officials argue that Mehanna stated "You never know with these things. Remember, I'm being watched."

Mehanna is being prosecuted for allegedly lying to federal authorities and conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaida.
