Mehanna friend said to seek camps for training – Boston Globe

On November 16, 2011, the Boston Globe reported that a government witness testified in court that he provided assistance to an associate of Tarek Mehanna "…with contacts in Yemen, with the understanding that they, too, wanted to train for jihad."

According to the article, 34-year-old Jason Pippin, an American citizen from Georgia, testified that "…Mehanna's close friend Ahmad Abousamra traveled to California in 2003 to discuss in person contacts he had in Yemen and ways to seek training."  According to Boston Globe, the three met in online-forums where "many expressed radical views."  Pippin himself, "…traveled to Pakistan in 1996 and underwent several months of terrorism training…"
