Suspected al-Qaida member indicted in NYC – Washington Post

On November 10, 2011, the Washington Post reported that a Moroccan man was indicted in Brooklyn for conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaida. The defendant, Abdeladim El-Kebir, is currently in custody in Germany.

According to the article, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn is seeking El-Kebir's extradition. El-Kebir was arrested in April 2011 for attempting to use explosives "to attack a crowdd place such as a bus in spring or summer 2011."

Should El-Kebir be convicted in the U.S., he faces life in prison.
