US slaps terrorism sanctions on Haqqani network commander – Washington Post

According to a November 1, 2011 article in the Washington Post, the U.S. State Department has added Mali Khan, Haqqani commander, to a terrorist blacklist. In doing so, the federal government will freeze any assets held by Khan in U.S. jurisdiction. In addition, the move prohibits any Americans from providing Khan with material support.

Khan, who has engineered numerous high-profile attacks in Afghanistan, was captured in September.
