Petraeus Resigns as Head of CIA

Nov 12th, 2012 Current Affairs

CIA director David Petraeus submitted a letter of resignation on Friday that has been accepted by President Obama, according to USA Today.  The USA Today article states that Petraeus cited an extra-marital affair with his biographer as the reason for his resignation, which, Petraeus said, followed 37 years of marriage.

The Associated Press reports that the affair was uncovered during an FBI investigation into harassing emails that were sent by Petraeus’ biographer, Paula Broadwell, to another woman.

Michael Morell, USA Today reports, will step in as acting director.
