BBC News recently reported that the White House rejected a petition submitted with 34,000 signatures to build a Death Star, a giant battle station in space armed with a super laser like that seen in Star Wars.

Signatories proffered that the project, which would cost approximately $850 quadrillion according to BBC News, would create jobs and support the national defense. The Obama Administration denied the petition playfully commenting that it does not “support blowing up planets.” The White House is obligated to respond to any petition with more than 25,000 signatures.
